The Dementia Festival that was due to take place in Petersfield this month will be postponed to May 2021.
It was originally going to be postponed until September, but due to the nature of the event and with the wellbeing of residents and attendees being the top priority, it was decided that the safest option was to hold it next year.
The annual event is held by East Hampshire District Council and Dementia Friendly Petersfield and offers advice and guidance for people with dementia and their families and carers.
Cllr Julie Butler, EHDC Deputy Leader and Portfolio Holder for Welfare and Community Integration said: "We are devastated to have to cancel the event, but we have to look after our most vulnerable residents.
"It's still unclear what the situation will be like in September, so for the safety of everyone involved we have decided to cancel and put our efforts towards an even more informative, supportive and helpful event next year."
If you or a loved one needs some extra support with dementia during this time, your Dementia Friendly communities are here to offer support and guidance. Check who your Dementia Friends Champion is in your area at www.dementiafriendlyhampshire.org.uk.
