East Hampshire lottery celebrates its first fundraiser big win!

East Hampshire Community Lottery celebrates its first big £2,000 winner since its launch in April last year.

So far the East Hampshire Community Lottery has raised nearly £23,000 for the local community and more than £5,000 has been given away in prizes.

There are more than 50 organisations signed up to the scheme that are reaping the benefits.

For each £1 ticket bought, 60p goes towards the community. Players can win cash prizes of up to £25,000 and with 50:1 odds of winning a prize you’ll find a bit of fun at the same time as knowing you’re really helping your local community.

Lottery tickets can be bought online or over the phone by calling 01730 631014. Players can choose which charities they want to support when signing up.

Last week the lottery saw one of its biggest winners, as Mr Eaton, of Waterlooville, won £2,000.

Lucky winner Mr Eaton, who is supporting Clanfield Bowls and Sports Club, said: “It’s been an unexpected surprise. I buy the tickets to help support our bowls club, so to win such an amazing amount as well is the icing on the cake. It’s an amazing feeling!

"I would definitely recommend everyone to sign up - after all you have to be in it to win it! - but even if you don’t win you are still supporting the extremely worthwhile local causes of your choice."

The draws are made every Saturday, and alongside cash sums, players can also win occasional prizes such as holidays or electronic devices. As well as weekly cash prizes, you could win 12 monthly fruit & veg boxes delivered to your door from Boxxfresh – a super friendly, family ran UK business.

Cllr Julie Butler, Deputy Leader and Cabinet member for Welfare and Communities at East Hampshire District Council, said: “Since its launch the community lottery has been a huge hit and we are delighted to celebrate with a big winner so soon after its first birthday.

“Congratulations to Mr Eaton and to all the winners we have had over the last year and a bit.

“Of course, while it’s nice to celebrate individual successes, the real purpose of the lottery is to raise money for the community.

“Don’t forget, if you run a charity or community group then you can sign up for free and receive your share of the funds generated by the lottery every week.”
