Happy 1st Birthday East Hampshire Community Lottery

Since its launch, the East Hampshire Community Lottery has raised more than £18,000 for the local community and more than £3,000 has been given away in winnings.

So far 53 local groups have signed up as part of a fun and effective way to raise funds for their valued services in the community.

You can win weekly cash prizes up to the £25,000 jackpot for just £1 per ticket and if you enter before the 24 April you will also be entered in to the national draw with the chance of winning a £1,000 voucher for Currys PC World.

50% of the £1 ticket goes directly to the cause of your choice with a further 10% going to the community fund, which is used to further support local good causes.

One of the many good causes who are already benefitting from the lottery is Petersfield's Shine Radio. Volunteer and co-founder Stephen Martin said, "We're an open project run by volunteers in the local community. More than 3,000 people tune-in every month to our live stream and our range of local podcasts.

"As a community radio service, we provide a platform that can promote a wide range of local organisations and their services. By choosing Shine Radio as their good cause, community lottery players help us support the interests and voices of local people.

"The lottery provides a small but steady income for the radio project that helps us to cover essential costs. Consider it as a possible long-term addition to your existing fundraising ...it all adds up."

Tracey Wood, East Hampshire District Council’s Head of Housing and Community said: “It’s hard to believe the East Hampshire Community Lottery is a year old already, and what a success it has been.

"We are proud to support the lottery and would encourage those who haven’t bought a ticket before to try it out, not only is this something affordable and fun to take part in, you can also support and raise money for some truly great causes across the district who rely on the public to keep them going strong!”
