Rebel Business School gives East Hampshire businesses a boost

17 East Hampshire entrepreneurs were among 97 businesses given a boost by the Rebel Business School during a free course in October, supported by East Hampshire District Council (EHDC).

The week-long online course provided attendees with a new way of thinking, giving them practical ways to get their ideas off the ground, helping them to thrive as a business.

The course included advice on: how to start a business for free; sales and marketing; setting up your website; and legal and tax issues - all the information and support needed to get a business idea up and running.

Stephen Biddlecombe of The Blue Box Cake Company, based in Waterlooville, said: "This course is so good networking with people facing the same fears and exciting prospects. Networking and sharing experiences is second to none." He went on to say, "It is invaluable to our community enabling many to realise their ambitions and entrepreneurial ideas."

The course was funded by EHDC, Havant Borough Council, New Forest District Council and Waverley Borough Council and delivered through the Hampshire-based enterprise, The Rebel Business School.

East Hampshire Councillor Ken Moon, EHDC portfolio holder for Economic Development, said: “It’s great to see that so many local entrepreneurs took part in the training.

“Small businesses are the backbone of the East Hampshire economy and this course has shown attendees that it’s possible to take an idea and make it a reality, without having to take a risk with your personal finances.”
