Sign up for something new and Spring into Health

Whitehill & Bordon’s Spring into Health Festival is giving residents the chance to learn new skills this month.

The event, run by East Hampshire District Council, in partnership with Abri and the Whitehill & Bordon Community Trust, features sessions to improve body and soul.

The annual festival is being run online and in-person this year, in response to the coronavirus restrictions and includes exercise classes, mental health wellbeing and employment support.

More than 100 sessions have been laid on until the end of May, so there’s still time to sign up and get involved.

There’s plenty for all ages, from mother and toddler groups, such as the Rhymetime story sessions, to the Dance Picnic exercise classes for older people.

Cllr Julie Butler, EHDC’s Portfolio Holder for Welfare and Community Integration, said: “The Spring into Health Festival looks a bit different this year with lots of the sessions being run online but there is still a great mix of events to choose from and lots of ways to get involved.

“Whether you’re looking to get fit or improve your employment prospects there will be something to help you this year.

“And we know that many people have found it difficult to cope through the pandemic and its lockdowns, so there is plenty of mental health support on offer too.

“This is a really worthwhile event with courses and classes to help you, whatever your situation. Head to the EHDC website now and take a look at what’s on offer.”

Alongside the fitness and exercise classes, there are sessions specifically aimed at helping people get back into work, such as employability webinars, technical skills and redundancy workshops.

Others are focused on mental health, such as courses on improving self-esteem, mindfulness and managing anxiety.

Booking is required for many courses. To find out a full list of courses and classes head to East Hampshire District Council’s website: www.easthants.gov.uk/springintohealth
