EHDC launches two new grants for struggling businesses

Two new grant schemes have been launched by East Hampshire District Council (EHDC) for businesses impacted by the current wave of coronavirus infections.

The Omicron Hospitality and Leisure Grant (OHLG) is a one-off payment of up to £6,000 for hospitality and leisure businesses, depending on the rateable value of their business premises. The sorts of businesses that may be eligible include pubs; restaurants; wedding venues; theatres; village halls; caravan parks; guest houses; and hotels.

The OHLG scheme will close to applications at midnight on Monday 28 February 2022.

Businesses that that can demonstrate a reduction in income as a result of coronavirus may be eligible for a grant up to £7,800 through the Additional Restrictions Grant (ARG).

Applications to the ARG will close at midnight on Sunday 23 January.

Businesses that qualify for the OHLG scheme can also apply to the ARG.

Councillor Charles Louisson - EHDC portfolio holder for Finance, said:

“Local businesses have felt the impact of the omicron variant over the festive period, from cancelled Christmas parties and hotel stays, to taxi drivers with fewer fares as a result.

“These grants will go some way to help support affected businesses that have been most impacted by the current situation.”
