Joint core strategy (part 1 - local plan)

The purpose of the local plan - joint core strategy is to provide a policy framework that plans for new development to deliver the vision that has been developed alongside the sustainable community strategy.

The joint core strategy (JCS) was adopted by EHDC on 8 May 2014 and by the South Downs National Park Authority (SDNP) on 26 June 2014.

It has now been superseded in the South Downs National Park by the South Downs Local Plan, which was adopted on 2 July 2019.

This local plan covers the entire district of East Hampshire.

A copy of the plan and supporting documents can be found below:

Hard copies of the documents referred to above can be viewed at the council offices.

Housing and employment allocations (part 2 - local plan)

The local plan - housing and employment allocations is the second part in a suite of development plan documents and follows on from the joint core strategy.

Its primary purpose is to identify specific sites to meet the individual housing and employment targets set out in policies CP3 and CP10 of the joint core strategy, and to set out guidance for the development of these sites.

The local plan (part 2): housing and employment allocations was adopted on 7 April 2016.

The East Hampshire District local plan: housing and employment allocations only covers the area of East Hampshire outside the South Downs National Park. This is because the park authority is the local planning authority for the SDNP and has produced a separate local plan for the whole of the SDNP (see above)

A copy of the plan and supporting documents can be found below:

Hard copies of the documents referred to above can be viewed at the council offices.
