Creative Footsteps festival supports local tourist attractions

Local tourist attractions were the stars of the show at the Creative Footsteps literary and nature festival from 2-10 October.

The festival, aiming to encourage residents to visit local attractions during what is traditionally a very quiet time of the year, featured 16 events over 10 days at six venues across East Hampshire. All of the events were attended by enthusiastic members of the public, happy to see our heritage properties open once more and keen to see the festival be repeated next year.

The programme was co-ordinated by East Hampshire District Council (EHDC), in partnership with Gilbert White’s House & Gardens, Jane Austen’s House, Chawton House, Petersfield Museum, The Allen Gallery and the Curtis Museum.

As part of the festival, visitors were issued with passports that, once completed, can be exchanged for a limited-edition pad and pen until the end of March 2022, subject to availability.

Councillor Ken Moon, EHDC portfolio holder for Economy, said:

“East Hampshire’s visitor attractions were hit hard by the restrictions necessarily imposed during coronavirus. The festival was a small contribution to getting more people out and about in their local area and supporting those attractions.”
