If you are interested, as a business or a resident, in reducing your energy bills, making your home more comfortable, retrofitting your home with energy efficient measures, or are a business interested in getting involved with the council, have a look at the schemes below for what best suits your needs.

Residents

Here are the schemes the council is currently aware of being available to our residents.

Warmer Homes

Available to low-income households, visit the Warmer Homes website for details and give them a call for a chat about the options for your home.

Local Energy Assistance Programme

If your home is cold, you can apply for access to energy retrofit schemes and funding through the Local Energy Assistance Programme (LEAP), by contacting Freephone: 0800 060 7567, or email support@applyforleap.org.uk.

COSY loan scheme

If you don't qualify for one of the schemes above, you can apply to the COSY loan scheme.

The COSY loan scheme will provide up to 30% of the cost of improvements and installation as a five-year interest-free loan. The scheme is available on a first-come first-served basis with the council retaining the right to accept or deny any application. There is no appeal process.

The measures include windows and doors replacement (single to double), boiler replacement (old to combi), insulation, solar PV, etc. the list is not exhaustive so if you are interested in another energy efficiency measure not included here, please do contact us using the application form below.

If you expressed an interest in the 100% loan during January and February 2023, we will honour those terms (if funding remains available) for applications made up to 30 April 2023.

In individual circumstances, additional financial support might be available to support the home energy improvements. This will be determined by the assessment panels based on the resident’s personal circumstances. There is no appeal process.

Boiler upgrade scheme

Grants to encourage houseowners to install low-carbon heating systems such as heat pumps.

Scheme is open from 1 April 2022 to 31 March 2025.

  • £5,000 off the cost and installation of an air-source heat pump
  • £5,000 off the cost and installation of a biomass boiler
  • £6,000 off the cost and installation of a ground-source heat pump

People living in social housing

Some Registered Social Landlords (such as housing associations) have funding available to help improve the energy efficiency of social housing. The housing provider will contact the tenant directly if the property is eligible, but if you are unsure, please contact your housing provider.
