On Wednesday 14 June, The Butler Family at Whitewool Farm, East Meon, hosted a successful farm walk, offering visitors an opportunity to learn about the agricultural, commercial, and sustainable practices at the farm.

The evening was organised by NFU Group Secretary, Richard Buer from Alton & Petersfield NFU Branch, with the support of EHDC.

District councillors, council officers, local farmers, Hampshire Police, and wellbeing charity Havant & East Hants Mind attended the event which included a tractor and trailer tour of the farm showcasing the milking parlour, views of the upper Meon valley, as well as the farms’ commercial activities. This included visiting the camping yurts, self-storage units, and a fly-fishing demonstration, all of which show how the farm has diversified and added passive income, boosting the economy of the local area.

The evening was a great opportunity for farmers, consumers, and other stakeholders to engage and highlighted the importance of the farm in supporting its local community.

Chairman of the council, Anthony Williams said, "As a councillor, I had the pleasure of participating in an enjoyable farm walk which showed off the hard work, dedication and passion that goes into farming. The evening highlighted the importance of supporting our local farmers and the critical role they play in our community's economic and food security.

"We would like to thank the NFU, and the Butler family at Whitewool Farm for hosting such an insightful event, which was much appreciated by all the district councillors who attended."
