SSEN roadworks - Lindford/Headley

News background

As part of ongoing works to improve the electricity supply to Whitehill & Bordon, the Scottish and Southern Electricity Network will be carrying out work on the roads around Whitehill & Bordon, Lindford and Headley.

SSEN is installing 18km of cabling in the area which will mean the closure of some local roads and the implementation of major diversions.

To conduct the work safely Lindford Rd will be closed from 13 November to 16 February 2024.

A diversion route has been put in place which must use a similar grade of carriageway which all vehicles, including larger trucks and lorries, can safely follow.

The multi-million pound project is part of the continued investment in Whitehill & Bordon, boosting the local power supply to future-proof the electricity network for homes and businesses in the area.

You can find out the full diversion route and more information on the leaflet here

What can you do?

It is likely that the roadworks will create significant disruption for local businesses. No compensation is available from SSEN, however businesses affected by local disruption can apply for a temporary reduction in their business rates.

To do this they will need to submit an application to the District Valuation Office which is responsible for setting the Rateable Value. Please remember that if businesses are in receipt of any Rate Relief and the Rateable Value is reduced, then the amount of relief received by them will also be reduced.
