Students at Treloar’s School and College are enjoying a hi-tech, immersive and engaging new facility paid for in part by a grant from East Hampshire District Council.
Treloar's in Alton has opened the Bradbury Learning Centre, a state-of-the-art educational facility designed to support students with physical disabilities.
The centre includes innovative spaces like an ‘Immersive Zone’, which uses interactive projections, scents and virtual reality to create engaging, multi-sensory learning environments.
An esports area helps teach students important life skills such as teamwork and communication, a library features devices able to read books aloud and clever kit such as green screen facilities and robotics help students learn and play.
EHDC helped pay for the project with a grant of £7,272 from the Supporting Communities Fund.
Cllr Adeel Shah, EHDC’s Portfolio Holder for Community Development and Engagement, said: “This is an amazing facility that will make a huge difference to the education and experience the students get at Treloar’s.
“I am proud that we have been able to play our part in making this project a reality and bring this fantastic hi-tech equipment to the school and college.”
Cllr Graham Hill, EHDC Chairman, said: “The Bradbury Learning Centre is an incredible place full of innovative and interesting kit to help students engage with their surrounding and experience new things. “The Immersive Zone was an amazing experience, I wish we had had something like this when I was at school!”
Dan, a college student, said: “I enjoy the variety of activities on offer in the Bradbury Learning Centre, but my favourite thing is the immersive learning room. I like it because it has something for everyone, it’s a good way to learn and it is fun.
"The opportunities for teamwork, hand skills, coordination and reading help me learn and it’s easier to learn about something when you can experience it. The Bradbury Learning Centre makes me feel relaxed, happy, calm and like I want to have fun!”
