The solar panels on our offices in Petersfield saved a total of 31.1 tonnes* of CO2 from July 2024 to June 2025. That’s around five times the weight of an elephant!

The solar power system, which has been operational since June 2024 has 331 solar panels and battery storage to provide power overnight.

The energy saving from July 2024 to June 2025 was over 150,000kWh, which would have cost around £37,000 if we had bought it from the grid.

Councillor Robert Mocatta, portfolio holder for Regeneration and Prosperity (which includes climate and environment) at East Hampshire District Council, said:

“The solar panel system is proving to have a significant impact on the power costs for our offices, and it’s good to be able to share this information with the public.

“Our dashboard will help residents to keep track of how our solar panels are performing and I hope it inspires businesses in the district to investigate the impact that solar could have on their office spaces.

“We’re continuing to work on projects to help the council to be net zero carbon by 2035 and supporting the district to reach net zero carbon by 2050.”
