We’re creating jobs, opportunities and prosperity in East Hampshire with a new scheme that will encourage new businesses to invest in the district.
Businesses moving into newly-built premises in the district can now apply for six months of rate relief.
The scheme, approved by our Cabinet on Friday 18 July, aims to encourage investment in new employment infrastructure and make doing business in East Hampshire more attractive than ever.
Cllr Robert Mocatta, EHDC Portfolio Holder for Regeneration and Prosperity, said: "This new policy will allow East Hampshire to deliver new industrial floorspace, encourage the development of employment land, promote growth, new jobs and productivity.
“A healthy economy means a healthy community and we want to show everyone that East Hampshire is open to business.
“This scheme will get businesses moving into the district and that’s good for jobs and good for our economy.”
This rate relief policy, along with the ongoing support from our Regeneration & Economy Team, will make the costs of businesses expanding into East Hampshire more manageable and will mitigate operating costs.
This opportunity would be offered to general industrial and light industrial operations, meeting the criteria set out in the policy, proposing to build a new commercial property within East Hampshire to provide quality employment.
