Work has begun on a new foodstore in Whitehill & Bordon that will become an integral part of the new town centre. This follows contracts being agreed earlier in the year.

Today, Cllr Andy Tree, EHDC Deputy Leader and Portfolio Holder for Whitehill and Bordon Area, discussed progress on the project with Robert Smith, Head of Major Disposals of the Defence Infrastrucutre Organisation (DIO), and James Child, of developer Whitehill and Bordon Regeneration Company (WBRC).

He said: “I was previously advised that work would begin by end of August and so met with DIO and EHDC today for an update that I could share with fellow residents. I am encouraged to have been told that site clearance started on today (Thur 28 Aug) with foundation work scheduled to start on Monday 1 September.

“It is worth noting that I am advised the main steelwork body is likely to be going up in early 2026 which will be the most visual part of the build. I will be keeping in regular contact with the DIO/WBRC as work continues and I am pleased they say they plan to give monthly updates for residents and to install time lapse cameras, so we can all follow the build as it progresses."

Key proposed construction dates as advised by the DIO and WBRC:

Foundation work completed – October 2025

Steel frame and superstructure completed – March 2026

Roof and windows in – July 2026

Shop opens – October 2026
