Work progressing on Whitehill & Bordon's new foodstore, shops and office space
The new Sainsbury’s foodstore in Whitehill & Bordon is well under way with an estimated opening date of spring 2027.
On Friday Cllr Andy Tree, EHDC Deputy Leader and Portfolio Holder for the Whitehill & Bordon Area, visited the site with James Child, the Project Lead at the Whitehill Bordon Regeneration Company, to check on progress.
They saw that construction of the store is going well with much of the cladding completed and brickwork started on the lower levels. A steel structure connected to the main building will house five smaller shop units on the ground floor below more than 4,000 sq feet of office space for small businesses.
The town’s Banking Hub has already confirmed it will take one of the small shop units, with interest already being expressed for the others.
The site will also include a multi-storey car park. The stairwell and lift block for the car park can already be seen in place.
Cllr Tree said: “I am delighted to see the Sainsbury's build progress. As both a local councillor and resident, I am looking forward to seeing it completed and open.”
James Child said: “I am pleased that we’ve stuck to our planned programme. The new food store is a key milestone of the project in Whitehill & Bordon and an important part of the town centre.”
Once construction is complete the site will be handed over to Sainsbury’s who will complete the internal fit-out, recruit staff and make final decisions around opening dates.
