About East Hampshire District Council
Local government in East Hampshire has three levels:
- Town and parish councils
- East Hampshire District Council (EHDC)
- Hampshire County Council
More than half of East Hampshire is within the South Downs National Park.
EHDC is run by elected councillors who represent local residents. If you would like to vote in elections, you will need to register to vote.
What EHDC Does
East Hampshire District Council provides a range of local services, including:
- Bin collections
- Planning applications
- Council tax collection
- Council tax support and housing benefits
- Housing and homelessness support
- Environmental health services, including noise and nuisance complaints
- Licensing for businesses and activities
- Management of council car parks
