Pre-applications fees

These are the charges for applications in East Hampshire.

The fees are slightly different if your application is for the part of East Hampshire that is inside the South Downs National Park.

Pre-applications fees

Please note, a small increase in pre-application fees came into effect on 1 April 2022.

Pre-application advice

  • Do I need planning permission? - £37
  • Householder/other small scale development - £57
  • Change of use - £139
  • Self contained granny annexes at domestic properties - £139
  • Advertisements - £54

Minor development

  • 1 to 3 houses, up to 499sqm commercial, or site of up to 0.49ha - £139
  • 4 to 9 houses, 500-999sqm commercial, or site of 0.5-0.99ha - £266
  • 10 to 49 houses, 1000- 4999sqm commercial, or site of 1-2ha - £587
  • 50 to 100 houses, 5000- 9999sqm commercial, or site of 2-4ha - £1,082

Large scale developments

  • 101+ houses, 10,000+sqm commercial, or 4+ha - 10% of the planning application fee

Specialist tree advice

  • Written advice - £71
  • Site visit - £139

Specialist listed building/conservation area advice

  • Written advice - £71
  • Site visit - £139

If you wish to seek advice on the broad principle of development only, then please contact the council for further details on the cost of this service. It will only be possible to offer broad advice on the principle of the proposal where limited information is provided. In these cases the extent of our response will be dependant on the level of information you provide.

Additional advice and meetings would be charged at 50% of the the initial fee.

For Parish Councils the pre-application fee will be half those stated above.
