We provide (on request) an assisted collection to those residents who are unable to put out their waste due to illness, physical inability or infirmity. Assisted collections are only available where there is no one else in the household to help put out your waste for collection.

We can collect from the doorstep, or an agreed place and we'll then return any containers to this location, once emptied.

We do not collect from behind gates, more than 25 meters from the kerbside or more than eight steps (stairs) from ground level.

Collections from properties in private roads will need to sign an indemnity form provided by the council to allow the contractor to access the road.

This service is not available to:

  • Residents that use communal bin stores
  • Properties where the original person who applied for an assisted collection and is no longer living at the property

If you are receiving assisted collections but no longer need the service, you must inform us as soon as possible.

Who can get help

You can get help with putting your waste out for collection if you are a resident and:

  • Are unable to put your waste containers to the edge of your property
  • Do not have another person in the household to do it for you

How it works

First, you’ll need to complete an eligibility form.

Then a risk assessment will need to be done to ensure that our crews can safely collect from the alternative collection point.

Once the assessment is done and a safe collection point agreed, crews will collect your bins from that point and return them to there when emptied.

We collect and return any empty containers either from:

  • your doorstep
  • an agreed place at the front of your property

We do not collect waste containers that are positioned:

  • behind side or back gates
  • more than 25 meters from the kerbside
  • more than eight steps (stairs) from ground level
