The cemeteries have graves for burials and cremations. They are always open to visit.

Alton Cemetery

The Historic section of Alton Cemetery is now a haven for wild flowers, insects and wildlife and EHDC are now working closely with the local councillors, residents and local members of ACAN (Architects Climate Action Network).

We have all committed to make a positive difference to the biodiversity in this area to promote wild flowers and insects.

In particular there is a small area set out for the 'Bee Orchid' which is a rare and protected flower. We plan to have signs positioned to inform visitors to the cemetery.

The number of times the grass is cut in this area through the spring and summer months will be reduced helping to protect the environment.
