A £10,000 grant from our Community Climate Action Fund (CCAF) is helping Petersfield Bowling and Snooker Club to reduce their electricity costs.

Apply for a CCAF grant

The grant was part of a £19,700 scheme which has seen 21 solar panels and battery storage installed on their building.

The system has generated more than 1,700 kilowatt-hours of electricity since July, halving the club’s electricity costs from the same time last year and saving more than 350kg of carbon dioxide.

Councillor Robert Mocatta, East Hampshire District Council portfolio holder for Regeneration and Prosperity (which includes climate change), said:

“Solar panels can be a significant initial cost but once they’re in place, you very quickly see a difference in your electricity bills.

“Electricity prices for community buildings aren’t capped in the same way that bills have been for family homes, so I’m proud that we’ve been able to help the club with this grant.”

If this has inspired you to take action, our CCAF is currently open for applications.

Applications will close at noon on Monday 30 October 2023.

If you’re interested in getting solar panels or battery storage for your home, there’s still time to sign up for the Solar Together group buying scheme - find out more.
