Money raised through developments to help vulnerable residents

Vulnerable residents in the Whitehill & Bordon area can get funding for energy efficient home improvements thanks to money drawn from local developments.

Through the Home Health Fund, eligible residents in the area, including Greatham and Lindford, can now apply for money to help towards double glazing, a new boiler, insulation and other energy-saving schemes.

Residents aged over 60, those suffering with health conditions or families with young children (five and under) can apply for the funding. EHDC has £35,000 to award, with up to £3,500 each household.

Cllr Andy Tree, EHDC Portfolio Holder for Whitehill & Bordon Area, said: “This is the perfect scheme for families and older people in the wider Whitehill & Bordon area to get energy-efficient enhancements to their home.

“Through these grants, vulnerable residents in East Hampshire can have warmer homes and save money on their energy bills.

“But hurry, the funding will not last forever, so if you think you can benefit from the scheme get your application in as quick as possible.”

The funding is drawn from financial contributions from Radian, the developer at Quebec Park, one of the main regeneration sites in Whitehill & Bordon. It is intended to give developers a way to compensate for carbon dioxide emissions that cannot be achieved through design and construction. Radian made a financial contribution which is used to invest in other carbon saving projects.
