Tuesday 24 February is the fourth anniversary of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. In solidarity with the people of Ukraine, we’ll be flying the Ukrainian flag at our offices.

Many families in East Hampshire have welcomed Ukrainians into their homes since 2022, with 44 current hosts in the district and many families now settled into independent accommodation and the local community.

We’ve been working to support Ukrainians in the community as well as providing support and advice for their hosts.

Councillor Graham Hill, Chairman of East Hampshire District Council, said: "This anniversary will be incredibly hard for our Ukrainian guests, many of whom will be hoping for an end to the conflict so they can return home.

"To be wrenched from your home, sometimes with only what you can carry, must be an incredibly traumatic experience and I'm proud of the empathy and generosity of the East Hampshire residents who have taken in guests from Ukraine.

"Ukrainian families in the district should have no doubt that we stand with them and the support will continue for as long as it takes."

Hampshire County Council (HCC) provide payments for hosts through the Homes for Ukraine or Ukraine Permission Extension visa schemes. Find out more on the HCC website.

If you can open your home to a Ukrainian family or individual, please visit our website to find out more or email ukrainesupport@easthants.gov.uk to speak to a member of the team.
