Working together for climate and the environment

We’re continuing to work closely with Petersfield Climate Action Network (PeCAN) to protect the environment and move the district towards net zero.

Councillor Nick Drew, East Hampshire District Council portfolio holder for Legal & Governance and Change & Performance, met with Patricia Exley, Team Leader at PeCAN, last week to reaffirm our commitment to working together for a better future for the district.

PeCAN has established itself as a local leader on climate action in the district and we have been providing communications support through council emails and social media to help encourage more people to get involved in their initiatives, including the Fruit Tree in Every Garden project.

We’ve also supported projects through our Community Climate Action Fund including the Petersfield Repair Café which will open its doors on 28 March at Avenue Pavillion.

Cllr Nick Drew said:

“A significant part of meeting the target of the district being net zero by 2050 is bringing our residents along on the journey.

“Our relationships with PeCAN and the other climate action networks in the district have been very positive and long may that continue.”

Patricia Exley said:

“We really appreciate the support we have received from EHDC in helping to amplify our messages to East Hampshire residents and businesses. It really does make a difference.”
