Evidence base

A key component of the Local Plan is the evidence base.

The purpose of establishing an evidence base is to ensure that all future planning policy and decisions are based on robust and up-to-date information.

The importance of Local Planning Authorities having an up to date, relevant and robust evidence base is emphasised in the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF), which was first published in March 2012 and the most recent version in February 2019.
